Aspirin for many people is better known as acetylsalicylic acid. I think if we can make a rating of the most frequently used drugs, aspirin will take in it not the last place and will definitely go into the top ten. Acetylsalicylic acid, which is an active substance, has an analgesic effect on the human body, also helps to reduce inflammation and has antipyretic effect.
Acetylsalicylic acid is usually applied, as an independent medicine, and in combination with other medicines, also acetylsalicylic acid can be a component for other medicines.
For example, acetylsalicylic acid is a part of the citramone. It should be noted, that aspirin as an independent medicine, has received great application. For example, I use aspirin for headaches. Among the contraindications and prohibitions to use, aspirin should not be used for people with poor blood coagulability, as well as with stomach diseases, especially with stomach ulcer.
I think the greatest interest affects how aspirin affects potency. Research of the urological community were conducted quite recently and on the website of the Ministry of Health in reports it was written, that a negative effect on potency was revealed. Among men over 40 years old, the risk of erectile dysfunction is much higher if a man constantly takes aspirin or medicines containing acetylsalicylic acid. That is why we recommend to use this medicine only if it is necessary.
Also, more recently, American scientists have found that taking certain popular medicines can have a pronounced negative effect on the sexual function of men and women. In particular, it refers to the so-called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, the most famous of which is aspirin.
It turned out, that the risk of developing erectile dysfunction for men, taking aspirin three times a day for more than three months, increased by an average of 2.4 times. In the course of the work, doctors examined medical cards of more than 80 thousand Californians, whose age was from 45 to 69 years. After taking into account other negative factors – such as the presence of diseases of the cardiovascular system, diabetes mellitus, high blood pressure and cholesterol, body mass index, propensity to bad habits, and national identity – the risk of impotence was approximately 1.4 times higher.
Doctors said, that the studies were conducted only with regard to the sexual function of men, but scientists also have speculation that aspirin and similar preparations can adversely affect the female libido. Erectile dysfunction, according to statistics, affects about 5% of men at the age of 40 and 15-25% of those whose age is about 65 years. At the same time, experts also do not recommend to stop taking medicines without consulting with a doctor.
